The afternoon tea revival is showing no sign of slowing down with the fashion for elegant towers of sandwiches, scones and cakes proving as popular as ever.

The quintessential British tradition is the perfect celebration for hen parties, anniversaries, baby showers, birthdays and of, course, Mother’s Day, which is this Sunday, March 11.

Cucumber triangles, scones laden with clotted cream and jam and fancy cakes can be washed down with gallons of tea (coffee, if you must) or a glass of fizz.
